Faculty of Education students win the Pitching Contest for Engineering Undergraduates and InnoHub members 2022

We are pleased to announce that Yue Hang Chi, Rachel, and Lee Hoi In, Lesley, students on our Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences programme, have won the Pitching Contest for Engineering Undergraduates and InnoHub members 2022, organised by the Innovation Academy, Faculty of Engineering, HKU. Rachel and Lesley were also given the “Best Presenters Award”.

Their project is called MotOral, a mobile application that enables speech therapists to provide measures that help prevent swallowing disorders among at-risk older adults. Through the app, users can strengthen their oral motor muscles by doing exercises. The app also incorporates face tracking technologies, games and analyses of user progress. To find out more about Rachel and Lesley’s project, please visit https://innoacademy.engg.hku.hk/motoral/

The pitching contest provides a platform for Engineering undergraduates and InnoHub members to present their project ideas and recruit prospective teammates. It helps improve students’ ability to effectively advocate an idea or proposal to a large audience. On top of that, the contest also provides students with an opportunity to form their own team and find friends who share similar interests and passion.

Congratulations to Rachel and Lesley! Keep up the good work!
