Intellectual styles represent individuals’ preferred ways of utilising their abilities. In an age increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence (AI), the importance of creativity has soared. This talk showcases primary research evidence highlighting the vital role of creativity-generating intellectual styles across various domains of learning, performance, and outcomes. Nevertheless, in institutional performance, such as students’ academic achievement and teachers’ career advancement, these styles are often undervalued. Professor Zhang argues that to promote favourable educational outcomes and adapt to the AI era, diverse intellectual styles – particularly those that foster creativity – must be actively encouraged at all levels.
