Macau Teaching Odyssey: School Attachment and Cultural Exploration (2024-25)

Building on our commitment to enhance student experience and foster engagement with institutions beyond Hong Kong, the School-University Partnerships (SUP) office organized the "Macau Teaching Odyssey: School Attachment and Cultural Exploration" programme from March 10-13, 2025. This enriching experience, supported by the UGC Funding Scheme for Mainland and Global Engagement and Student Learning Experience, offered 20 student-teachers from the Faculty of Education an invaluable opportunity to explore the education system in Macau.

Offered in collaboration with the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and Pui Ching Middle School (PCMS), the programme provided insights into innovative pedagogies and best practices in dynamic learning settings. During debriefing sessions with academics from both universities, HKU students compared education systems in Macau and Hong Kong, highlighting the programme's impact on developing practical skills such as effective class management, STEAM education promotion, AI integration, project-based learning design, creating a learner-centered environment and catering to diverse learning styles.

This immersive experience has left a lasting impression on our student-teachers, inspiring them to positively impact the schools they will serve in Hong Kong and beyond.

HKUxUSJ One-day Study Tour to Macau (2023-24)

Committed to enhancing student experience and impactful engagement with institutions in Hong Kong and beyond, the School-University Partnerships (SUP) office organised a one-day study tour on 6 March 2024 to the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and Colégio Mateus Ricci in Macau.

In collaboration with the School of Education at USJ, the tour provided our students with a valuable opportunity to learn about innovative pedagogical approaches and practices at the two institutions as well as the education system in Macau.

Through campus tours and interactions with educators and USJ students, our students gained insights into diverse topics from integrating SDGs into education to promoting cross-disciplinary STEM learning and self-reflection for holistic development.

Additionally, our students had the chance to showcase their unique learning experiences offered by the Faculty of Education such as impactful experiential learning projects and a virtual programme that immersed them in Australian culture and education. They also discussed HKU’s flexible curriculum structure, which enables students to design their academic path based on their interests and goals.

Read on to find out students’ reflections on this fruitful experience!
