HKU Faculty of Education organises “Step for Education” Hiking Day in celebration of the 40th anniversary

The “Step for Education” Hiking Day, organised by the HKU Faculty of Education, took place on May 18. It marked the kick-off of the series of events celebrating the Faculty’s 40th anniversary. Faculty members, students and alumni gathered for a leisure hike and commemorated this remarkable milestone together.

Led by Professor Yang Rui, Dean of Education, the hike began at Eliot Hall and May Hall at HKU. Participants were guided along a scenic trail which took them past various iconic spots, including the University Lodge, the Victoria City Boundary Markers and the Pinewood Battery. The hike was further enriched by Professor Tai Chung Pui’s sharing of the stories about the history and significance of the landmarks along the trail.

During the hike, participants had engaging conversations, sharing stories about their personal experiences with the Faculty. The event offered a great opportunity for staff, students, and alumni from different cohorts and generations to unite and make new connections, strengthening the bonds within the Faculty of Education community.

In addition to offering participants an enjoyable hiking experience, the “Step for Education” Hiking Day also aimed to solicit contributions to the Faculty of Education. The Faculty expresses sincere gratitude to all the participants and friends who generously contributed to the Faculty for their invaluable support. The contributions will be placed in the Faculty of Education Development Fund, which aims to support the sustainable development of the Faculty and empower it to continue fostering positive change for future generations.
