Professor Karen Chan receives the Faculty Knowledge Exchange Award 2025

We are pleased to announce that Professor Karen Chan of the Faculty’s Academic Unit of Human Communication, Learning, and Development has been selected for the Faculty Knowledge Exchange (KE) Award 2025.

Professor Chan’s “Care for You – Carefood Project” has demonstrated strong local relevance and significant real-world impact, particularly in addressing swallowing difficulties. A central focus of the project has been the development and implementation of care food standards and training programmes, alongside the provision of ready-to-eat care food products. The project exemplifies the effective translation of scholarly research into social good, delivering clear societal benefits and fostering meaningful community impact. It also aligns closely with public policy objectives, illustrating a clear pathway from academic research to policy-informed practice.

The Faculty KE Awards were introduced in 2011 to recognise the outstanding KE accomplishment within each Faculty that has had demonstrable economic, social or cultural impacts to benefit the community, business/industry, or partner organisations. The selection criteria include the quality of the underpinning research and the evidence-supported impact, the effectiveness of engagement beyond academia, and the demonstration of cross- and multi-disciplinary impacts.

Our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Chan on her remarkable KE achievement!
