We are delighted to share that Professor Cecilia Chan of the Faculty has been awarded the 10th Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award (Humanities and Social Sciences) by the Ministry of Education (MoE).
Professor Chan’s paper, A comprehensive AI policy education framework for university teaching and learning, has been recognised with the third-class award in the Educational Science Research category. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the study combines quantitative and qualitative research to collect data from students, faculty, and staff across different disciplines in Hong Kong universities. Drawing on these findings, it presents an AI ecosystem education policy framework covering teaching, governance, and operations, providing important perspectives on the implications of AI integration within academic settings.
Reflecting on the award, Professor Chan said, “I am honoured to receive this award and grateful to the MoE for recognising this research. At a time when AI brings both excitement and uncertainty, education must help shape its future. This research offers institutions a framework to move forward with confidence, ensuring that innovation goes hand in hand with trust, accountability, and meaningful learning.”
Regarded as a reputable and influential accolade in the field of social sciences in China, the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award (Humanities and Social Sciences) was established by the MoE in 1995 to acknowledge distinguished research projects in humanities and social sciences at tertiary institutions in China.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Professor Chan on receiving this honour.
