Dr Vincent Wong appointed by the Secretary for Education as a member of the Appeal Board and the Rules Committee under the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications Ordinance

We are delighted to share the news that Dr Vincent Wong, Senior Lecturer & MEd Specialism Coordinator (Educational Administration & Management) of the Faculty has been appointed by the Secretary for Education (SED) to serve as one of the members in the Appeal Board under the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications Ordinance (Cap.592). In addition, Dr Wong is also appointed as the member of the Rules Committee established under section 17 of the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualification Ordinance.


The Appeal Board is an independent appeal mechanism established under Section 10(1) of the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications Ordinance (Cap.592) to determine appeals against the accreditation decision by the Accreditation Authority or a decision on the entry of a qualification into the QR by the QR Authority. HKCAAVQ is specified as the Accreditation Authority and QR Authority.

 

Tapping on his knowledge in education, training and law, Dr Wong, together with other members in the Appeal Board as a whole, serves as an independent and impartial avenue for aggrieved parties to review the decision of the Accreditation Authority or Qualifications Register Authority on accreditation or qualifications registration matters. His terms of reference are to deal with appeals under Section 11(1) of the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications Ordinance (Cap.592) by an operator, assessment agency or granting body. In addition, Dr Wong is very pleased to contribute to the Board his veteran expertise in education and law pertaining to the state-of-the-art international practices, subsequent to his serving as Academic Visitor at Faculty of Law and Visiting Research Fellow at Department of Education in the University of Oxford.
