HKU is ranked World Number 1 for Education and Educational Research by U.S. News & World Report in the 2025-2026 Best Global Universities Subject Rankings

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has once again achieved the top position globally for “Education and Educational Research” in the latest 2025-2026 Best Global Universities Subject Rankings by U.S. News & World Report. This marks the third consecutive year that HKU has achieved this prestigious title since the inclusion of this subject area in the rankings, reaffirming the Faculty of Education’s global leadership in the field of education.
Professor Yang Rui, Dean of Education, expressed his delight at this outstanding achievement and attributed the success to the relentless efforts of the Faculty members. “The Faculty of Education has always been dedicated to advancing pioneering research and serving as a research nexus that connects China, Asia, and the global academic community. Our Faculty members consistently demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and professionalism in their academic pursuits. I am truly honoured and grateful for their outstanding contributions that have led to this remarkable recognition.”
The 11th annual U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings examine 51 key academic subject areas. The ranking is based on a range of indicators, such as publications, total citations, normalised citation impact, and international collaboration.
The Faculty of Education at HKU continues to excel as one of the world’s leading education faculties, achieving notable success across major global university subject rankings: Third globally for Education and Training in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025; and sixth globally for Education Studies in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2025.
