"See Me As A Science Person" Picture Books Exhibition and Opening Ceremony 

The "See Me As A Science Person" Picture Books Exhibition, co-organised by the HKU Faculty of Education and the HKU Libraries, will start on April 26, 2024 (Friday). This event aims to bridge the gap between our youth and the world of science by showcasing the inspiring narratives and triumphs of everyday science people who embody the values of lifelong learning and work-life balance. Through relatable stories and vivid illustrations, the exhibition encourages children and students to embrace their own curiosities and aspirations, fostering a belief that they can be science people, too.
 
The exhibition, curated by Professor Logan Chen CHEN, features 30 illustrative books created by 30 talented HKU students from the STEM Education Programme. These books, some of which are inspired by the scientific pursuits at HKU, portray the science journey with humor and tenacity, making it accessible to all. 
 
The ceremony will be an engaging and inspiring event, featuring enlightening flash talks by esteemed figures in education, including the Dean of the Faculty of Education, as well as professors, artists, engineers, and picture book authors. Furthermore, the authors will provide deeper insights into their works during a personal showcase. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshop activities, guided by experts, where they can try their hand at crafting their picture books. 

It is a unique opportunity to explore physical books and original drafts, and engage with authors during their in-person prefaces. Let us come together as a community to celebrate the everyday heroes of science and inspire future generations to embrace the wonders of scientific exploration.
