Established in 1984, with origins dating back to 1917 as a teacher training department in the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong commemorates its 40th anniversary in 2024. As an important part of this milestone celebration, the Faculty proudly presents "The Future of Hong Kong Education" Forum, which aims to envision the educational landscape of Hong Kong through insightful discussions and collaborative dialogues.
In a world rapidly transformed by evolving technologies and societal shifts, history plays a vital role, linking the past, present, and future. By examining our past and learning from it, we gain valuable insights that can help us make more informed decisions and shape predictions about what lies ahead. Reflecting on our heritage allows us to understand the roots upon which our present stands and also provides a roadmap for the future.
Educating the next generation is both a privilege and a profound responsibility that influences not just individual lives but also the broader community and society as a whole. By looking into our current practices and fostering innovation in education, we can collectively work towards building a more inclusive, equitable, and forward-thinking education framework that prepares us for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
This forum offers a unique platform for educators, students, and community members to come together, share ideas, and engage in thought-provoking conversations. Join us on this reflective journey to acknowledge the efforts of educators in Hong Kong and the accomplishments of our Faculty together. We look forward to shaping a brighter educational future for generations to come.
