Background of Co-organiser

 

TWGHs Wong Fung Ling College is an aided school in Ma On Shan. In 2017, a teacher selected to be the innovative teacher in the teacher fellows of Innopower@ JC: Fellowship for Teachers and Social Workers programme and has launched The TWGHS Wong Fung Ling College Jockey Club MAKER+ Innovative Curriculum Programme (MAKER+). To address the learning motivation of students, the programme incorporated ‘Learning by Doing’, ‘Design Thinking’ and aims to empower students for enhancing the ownership of learning by bringing them into the state of flow.

 

Objectives

 

The programme aims to nurture students by equipping them with 21st century generic skills such as curiosity, creativity, collaboration, empathy, self-directed learning and resilience via designing thinking and learning by doing.

 

Project Details

 

To support the programme development, students are expected to:

 

  • Assist in reflection tools, team building and teaching kits development for specific case(s) or lesson(s)
  • Assist in the general operation for the programme
  • Design and implement MAKER+ workshops in ECA
  • Prepare materials for social media platform (Facebook, Instagram and webpage, etc.)
  • Work as group facilitators for assisting students’ learning
  • Communicate with NGOs to get cooperation opportunities.

 

Students will learn design thinking and basic MAKER+ skills in the programme.

 

Date

 

  • 25 September - 31 October 2023
  • Students are required to work five full days from 8:30am to 5pm (with one lunch hour) per week, with site-visit activities on Saturday (max. once), if any

Eligibility

 

PGDE (full-time) students with DAT/STEM/Language/Humanities/Arts/BAFS background

    1. A personal statement (of not more than 200 words) explaining why you would like to join this EL project
    2. Your CV and articles or project portfolio.
  • Shortlisted students may be required to attend an interview with TWGHs Wong Fung Ling College (details to be confirmed).
