Experiential Learning at Knights Nurturing Foundation
Background of Co-organiser
Knights Nurturing Foundation is based in Hong Kong and Macau. We specialise in providing international STEAM education projects and competitions for primary and secondary students. We aim at providing different international STEAM competitions to enhance the multifaceted development of students.
Here are the international education projects we are hosting:
1. International Economics Olympiad Macau Selection
Designed to discover and stimulate students’ interest in economics, business and finance; to further economics and financial literacy education and enhance the problem-solving skills of high school students though practice.
2. Economics Asia Convention (EAC)
EAC will be co-organised by the Association for the Promotion of Financial Literacy and Knights Nurturing Foundation. We aim to introduce the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) to Asian students and encourage them to study economics. We gather Asian students to the modern city of Tokyo, providing a chance for students to cultural exchange and explore the world.
3. Future City® Competition
The competition aims to discuss social issues and reconstruct future urban planning. Participants share and design a blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet around the theme from the 17 Sutainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
4. Road To Universe (RTU)
RTU is an annual competition for students in secondary school around the world, aiming to encourage students to generate innovative ideas and sustainable development plans related to future aerospace development. At the same time, the RTU provides students with a multidisciplinary learning involving different areas, including astronomy, aerospace and business.
5. Global Future Space Scholars Meet (GFSSM)
GFSSM is an aerospace business simulation programme. In GFSSM, participants are encouraged to integrate various domains of knowledge, including business, science, mathematics, engineering, social sciences, design, art and psychology, to accomplish missions and design the aerospace industries with commercial value and sustainable outcomes.
Objectives
- Promote 4C core competencies, including creativity and innovation, critical thinking, communication skills and collaboration
- Encourage students to show their interdisciplinary knowledge, including business, economics, finance, science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics, etc.
Project Details
With guidance from Knights Nurturing Foundation’s staff, the intern(s) will assist in the following areas:
- develop and implement lessons for students participating in international STEAM competition projects
- revise and modify teaching materials on teaching resources of IEO, Future City® Competition and RTU
- plan and organise competition, school events and exhibition.

Eligibility
PGDE students who meet the following criteria:
- Have keen interest in positive education and related
- Organised, responsible and self-initiated
- High language proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Canva
- Possess strong interest in STEAM project or majoring in economics is preferred.

- Upload the following documents to the respective project folder at HKU Moodle (Part 2) (Please combine all documents into one Word/PDF file)
- A personal statement (of not more than 200 words) explaining why you would like to join this EL project
- Your updated CV with a cover letter.
- Shortlisted students may be required to attend a face-to-face interview arranged by Knights Nurturing Foundation (details to be confirmed).
