Experiential Learning at Knights Nurturing Foundation
Background of Co-organiser
Founded in 2016 and officially a non-profit in Hong Kong as of 2023, the Knights Nurturing Foundation aims to "explore the world; fulfill oneself."
We are dedicated to serving children and teenagers in Hong Kong and Macau, regardless of race, background, or religion, by providing interdisciplinary learning experiences that broaden their global horizons and enhance key skills.
Through various activities, we empower young individuals to discover their strengths and pursue unique paths, fostering positive change and outbound opportunities.
Here are the International education projects we are hosting:
1. Utopia World
Utopia World is an innovative project-based learning competition covering subjects including mathematics, geography, design, chemistry and others. This competition challenges students to work in teams to develop an annually themed city, envisioning a clear plan for its future 100 years from now.
2. Economics Asia Convention
A competition jointly initiated by the Knights Nurturing Foundation based in Hong Kong, the Association for the Promotion of Financial Literacy in Japan.
An annual competition for secondary school students worldwide in the areas of Economics, Finance, and Business. Participating countries and regions include Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Taiwan, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore etc.
3. Owlypia
A global education platform for students aged 9–18, Owlypia bridges academic exploration and real-world learning. Covering five interdisciplinary fields—Science, Literature, Social Sciences, Art, and Economics—it inspires intellectual curiosity and critical thinking through engaging international challenges.
4. SDG International Innovation Conference
This conference serves as a global platform for youth to engage in cross-cultural exchange and collaboration on innovation in economics, finance, and business, aiming to break down barriers to sustainable development by guiding participants in translating SDG concepts into actionable solutions through a "short-cycle, high-intensity" model.
Objectives
- Promoting 4C core competencies, include of Creativity and Innovation, Critical Thinking, Communication Skills and Collaboration
Encourage students to show their interdisciplinary knowledge, including mathematics, geography, business, economics, finance, science, technology, engineering, art, etc.
Project Details
With guidance from Knights Nurturing Foundation’s staff, the intern(s) will assist in the following areas:
- develop and implement lessons for students participating in international STEAM competition projects
- revise and develop local selection and international exam materials for the EAC Program, economics competitions, etc.
- plan and organise competition and school events

Eligibility
PGDE students who meet the following criteria:
- Have keen interest in positive education and related
- Organised, responsible and self-initiated
- High language proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Canva
- Possess strong interest in STEAM project or majoring in mathematics, geography and/or economics

- Upload the following documents to the respective project folder at HKU Moodle (Part 2) (Please combine all documents into one Word/PDF file)
- A personal statement (of not more than 300 words) explaining why you would like to join this EL project
- Your updated CV with a cover letter
- Shortlisted students must be required to attend a face-to-face or Zoom interview arranged by Knights Nurturing Foundation (details to be confirmed).
