Experiential Learning
Development of an Interdisciplinary School Programme Across Four Museums on HKU Campus (NEW)
Background of Co-organisers
Four museums, the Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum (HKBM), the Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole (Petite Ecole), the Stephen Hui Geological Museum (SHGM), and the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG), welcome tens of thousands of visitors yearly and now join forces to provide a new educational programme to primary and secondary students across Hong Kong.
Project Objectives
During this project, interns will have the opportunity to develop educational material for their chosen age group (4-18 years old) and a new programme targeting Hong Kong Public Schools to organise educational tours encompassing the four main museums on the HKU campus (see above). This interdisciplinary programme, combining both sciences and humanities, should include the visit around a central theme (e.g. Chinese natural and cultural heritage) while developing specific themes for each museum (e.g. geology, biodiversity, arts, literature, etc.)
This presents a unique opportunity to develop a programme reaching thousands of students across Hong Kong. Students should possess strong enthusiasm for interdisciplinarity, curiosity, creativity and excellent communication skills to engage and collaborate with all partners involved in the project.
