Professor Timothy Hew honoured with the
Kintoy Professorship in Educational Technology

Professor Timothy Hew has been conferred the Kintoy Professorship in Educational Technology by HKU. This prestigious honour recognises Professor Hew’s impactful scholarship and outstanding contributions to the field of Educational Technology.
Professor Hew is renowned for advancing the theory and design of digital learning interventions that enhance student outcomes. Since 2015, he has been ranked as a top 1% researcher by Clarivate Analytics by citations based on data drawn from Essential Science Indicators, and was named one of the “Highly Cited Researchers” by Clarivate in 2025, underscoring his academic influence and excellence.
Professor Hew’s research has generated significant practical and policy impact. In 2019, his critical analysis of flipped learning pedagogy was recognised by the Academic Pediatric Association (USA) as one of the top articles for its immediate and direct influence on pediatric educators. In 2022, his research was featured in Forbes, reaching millions of readers around the world.
In addition to his research, Professor Hew is deeply committed to educational improvement in Hong Kong and beyond through community engagement. He collaborates closely with kindergarten, primary, and secondary school teachers to co-design and implement technology-supported programmes across a range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Chinese Language, Physics, and Economics. These initiatives have consistently demonstrated improved learning outcomes compared with conventional instruction and have been widely disseminated through international journals, contributing to educational advancement globally.
