From Past to Present: The Evolution of Speech-Language Pathology Education and Practice in Hong Kong
The year 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong. An Anniversary Seminar Series is organised to celebrate this milestone and the Faculty’s academic achievements over the past four decades. The first seminar entitled “From Past to Present: The Evolution of Speech-Language Pathology Education and Practice in Hong Kong” will be held on September 30, 2024.
This seminar will provide an overview of the evolution of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) education and practice in Hong Kong from its early days to the present. It will also explore the challenges and opportunities that have shaped the development of this profession, and discuss the current state of SLP services in Hong Kong. Additionally, the seminar will highlight the latest advancements in SLP education and practice and elaborate on their effects on the lives of people with communication disorders, both in the local area and in Mainland China.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of HKU Faculty of Education, the Anniversary Seminar Series offers a historical narrative and a perspective on education that connects the Past, Present, and Future. The works of the Faculty are closely linked to the global community of educational research, while at the same time deeply rooted in Hong Kong local society. The seminars will cover the major themes of research in the Faculty including Language Education, Early Childhood Education, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Information Technology, International and Comparative Education, and more.

香港大學教育學院於2024年成立四十周年，特別舉辦周年研討會系列，以慶祝這一里程碑和學院在過去數十年的學術成就。第一場研討會將於2024年9月30日舉行，題目為「從過去到現在：香港言語及語言病理學教育與實踐的演變」 (From Past to Present: The Evolution of Speech-Language Pathology Education and Practice in Hong Kong)。
