HKU Education achieves Record-High Ranking of 4th Place Worldwide in 2025 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has achieved a record-high ranking of fourth place worldwide in the 2025 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) by ShanghaiRanking for the subject of Education. This significant rise of seven places from the previous year reinforces HKU’s standing as the leading university in Asia in the field of Education.


The GRAS evaluates universities across 57 subjects in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The ranking is based on nine objective indicators grouped into five categories: World-Class Faculty, World-Class Research Output, High-Quality Research, Research Impact, and International Collaboration. 


The outstanding performance reflects the HKU Faculty of Education’s leadership in advancing education and research through innovation and impactful global partnerships. This achievement highlights the Faculty’s role as a global leader in academic and research excellence, driving transformative development in education.

 

With a strong committment to delivering high-quality education, the HKU Faculty of Education has also attained top positions in other prominent global rankings: World number one for Education and Educational Research in the U.S. News & World Report 2025-2026 Best Global Universities Subject Rankings; and third globally for Education and Training in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025.
