"See Me As A Science Person" Picture Books Exhibition has officially opened

The "See Me As A Science Person" Picture Books Exhibition, co-organised by the HKU Faculty of Education and the HKU Libraries, officially opened on April 26, 2024 at the HKU Main Library. The exhibition not only showcases 30 illustrative books created by HKU students from the STEM Education Programme, but also presents the stories behind the books, including initial drafts, hand-drawn illustrations, and behind-the-scenes interviews.

In the opening ceremony, Professor Yang Rui, Dean of Education, expressed his pride in seeing the students connecting the worlds of science and art for the public good. The exhibition demonstrates the Faculty’s dedication to community engagement and excellent teaching. Professor Logan Chen, curator of the exhibition, stated that the student authors showcased the human journey of science in their created books. This exhibition encourages children and students to cultivate their curiosities and aspirations, echoing the theme of the project “I, too, can be a science person”.

Professors, artists, engineers, and picture book authors were invited to share their insights and experiences with the participants during the sharing sessions. Participants also had the opportunity to create their own picture books in the interactive workshops.
