The Inauguration Ceremony of the Education Mentorship Programme 2026 took place on March 14, 2026, marking the beginning of another inspiring journey in this enriching programme.
Jointly organised by the Faculty of Education and the Hong Kong University Education Alumni Association (HKUEdAA), the Education Mentorship Programme connects mentees with seasoned professionals in education and related fields, offering students a valuable opportunity to gain insights and guidance from their mentors’ experiences.
Professor Lawrence Ng, Associate Dean (Outreach and Engagement), warmly welcomed the participants and emphasised the significant role that mentorship plays in shaping students’ career paths and personal development. He also expressed gratitude to the mentors for their dedication to supporting and inspiring the next generation of professionals.
Mr Luke Yick, President of HKUEdAA, encouraged mentees to make the most of this mentorship opportunity. He highlighted the importance of taking initiative, deepening industry understanding, and developing career visions through this invaluable mentorship experience.
During the sharing session, Mr Derek Wong, an experienced mentor and long-time supporter of the Programme, reflected on his own transformative experience as a mentee. He shared insights into the evolving roles of mentors at different stages of one’s career. He also offered advice on building meaningful relationships with mentors and maximising the benefits of the mentorship journey.
The ceremony concluded with dynamic ice-breaking and networking activities, fostering connections and dialogue among participants.
As a long-standing tradition of the Faculty of Education, the Education Mentorship Programme continues to equip students with essential skills and diverse perspectives, supporting them on their journey towards achieving their professional and personal aspirations.
