From Observation to Insight: HKU Students Gain Hands-On Experience in Authentic Classroom
Updated on December 11, 2025 (Thu)

On 15 November 2025, a group of 11 students from the Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science and PGDE programmes took part in an enriching school-based learning experience.
With support from our partner school, Fanling Kau Yan College, the students, led by Dr Promail Leung (Principal Lecturer), had the opportunity to observe a Secondary 6 Physics School-based Assessment (SBA) lesson. Facilitated by our alumnus, Mr Luk Cheuk Hei Esmond, the session was engaging and interactive, sparking discussions and insights on themes from teaching philosophy to best practices in Physics and school-based STEAM education. The group also explored special facilities at the school such as the STEAM Room and Flight Simulator Room.
This activity aims to enhance student-teachers’ practical teaching skills, deepen their pedagogical content knowledge, and build confidence in managing Physics practical lessons. It also fosters professional dialogue among educators. As part of our efforts to prepare future educators in authentic learning environments, this initiative reflects our dedication to cultivating confident, capable educators who are prepared to inspire and lead in real-world classrooms. Stay tuned for more updates on our innovative teaching and learning endeavours!
