Professor Chen Gaowei honoured with the Tin Ka Ping Foundation Outstanding Young Professorship

Professor Chen Gaowei, Associate Professor in the Faculty’s Academic Unit of Mathematics, Science, and Technology, has been selected by HKU for the prestigious Tin Ka Ping Foundation Outstanding Young Professorship. This award recognises Professor Chen’s innovative research, remarkable achievements, established collaborations with the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, and promising research plans.
Professor Chen’s research interests focus on learning sciences, dialogic teaching, classroom discourse, video visualisation, video-based learning, teacher professional development, and educational statistics. His commitment to advancing the frontiers of learning sciences and technologies positions him to make substantial contributions to both the Faculty and the University.
With the support of this professorship, Professor Chen aims to conduct research on AI-powered classroom feedback and AI-supported video-based learning. These research efforts lead the way in educational innovation and have the potential to profoundly reshape teaching and learning.
The “Outstanding Young Professorships Scheme” aims to nurture rising stars and young talents. Award recipients, selected through a rigorous process involving nominations from various Faculties, receive funding to support their research and academic activities.
