Education Mentorship Programme 2026 – Sharing Session on “How to Prepare for a Teacher Interview”

On October 9, 2026, the Faculty of Education and the Hong Kong University Education Alumni Association (HKUEdAA) jointly organised a sharing session titled “How to Prepare for a Teacher Interview” under the Education Mentorship Programme. Tailored to participants’ interests and questions, the session offered students and recent graduates practical guidance on preparing to enter the teaching profession.

Drawing on his experience in the education sector, Mr Derek Wong, Lecturer in the School of Education and Languages at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, guided participants through the teacher job application process and highlighted key considerations at different stages. He also shared tips for interview preparation, including how candidates could effectively demonstrate their ability to meet the specific needs of prospective schools.

Dr Mingson Lam, Assistant Principal of HKSYC&IA Chan Nam Chong Memorial College, encouraged participants to develop a strong awareness of the evolving education landscape and introduced a range of resources to help them deepen their understanding of the sector. He also shared advice on how candidates could articulate the value they could bring to prospective schools.

The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, providing further opportunities for participants to seek advice from the speakers. The sharing session equipped participants with strategies and perspectives to strengthen their readiness for the teaching profession.
