Education Mentorship Programme – Sharing Session on "How to prepare for a teacher interview"

The Faculty of Education and the Hong Kong University Education Alumni Association (HKUEdAA) co-organised a sharing session titled "How to prepare for a teacher interview" on January 24, 2025. Held under the Education Mentorship Programme, the event aimed to help students prepare for their future teaching careers. Over 70 students from various programmes attended the session, where they gained valuable insights into interview strategies, professional expectations, and tips for success in the teaching profession.
The event began with remarks by Dr Elizabeth Barrett, Assistant Dean (Learning & Teaching), and Professor Elizabeth Loh, Director of Double Degree Programmes. Both of them emphasised the importance of thorough preparation when pursuing career opportunities. They also extended their gratitude to Mr Derek Wong and Mr Mingson Lam, experienced educators from the HKUEdAA, for generously sharing their insights with the students.
During the sharing session, Mr Wong provided practical strategies for interviews and demonstration teaching, as well as an overview of the operational framework of schools. Mr Lam shared the latest trends in the education field and recommended various informative platforms to help participants stay updated with developments in the sector.
In the Q&A session, the speakers offered thoughtful responses to participants’ questions, fostering meaningful and engaging discussions. This sharing session not only equipped participants with effective interview strategies but also inspired them to embrace their teaching careers with confidence and a positive mindset of empowering future generations.
