Ocean Park Pre-Service Teachers Job Experience Programme 2026/27

Background of Ocean Park and Discovery & Education Department

Opened in 1977, Ocean Park is a world-class conservation and education hub. We create fun and meaningful experiences grounded in nature, and complemented by leisure and adventure elements, to foster environmental stewardship.

Ocean Park Hong Kong has been offering educational programmes for students since 1992. In 2004, the Ocean Park Academy Hong Kong (OPAHK) was founded to deliver education programmes in the diversified environment of Ocean Park. We aspire to become the ideal destination for life-wide learning where students of different ages can learn about nature and conservation in an enjoyable atmosphere.

Objectives

Students will participate in a four-week job-shadowing at Discovery & Education Department of Ocean Park to gain first-hand exposure to conservation and education in action.

Project Details

The Discovery & Education Department of Ocean Park is launching a Job Experience Programme for pre-service teachers, allowing students to be attached to the department for 4 weeks. This programme is designed to empower future educators by providing them with practical experience in delivering environmental education outside the traditional classroom setting. Through Ocean Park’s commitment to experiential learning, students will immerse themselves in a dynamic, real-world environment to observe and master the techniques of engaging learners with nature and conservation.

Students are expected to:

Shadow Ocean Park’s education programmes across kindergarten, primary, and secondary levels
Co-deliver education programmes with Ocean Park educators
Assist in large-scale in-park education / conservation events
Design and produce teaching materials for Ocean Park programmes

Language requirement: Proficient in English and Chinese (spoken Cantonese & written Chinese)

Quota: 5 students

Upon completion of the programme, students will receive:

A Recommendation Letter highlighting the practical experience and skills gained under the programme to support students’ future endeavours in education and youth engagement

A Certificate of Completion: Field-based Experiential Educator Programme (Upon successfully satisfying programme requirements)

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm
Students are required to work five full days per week
Special working hours: Working days may include weekend and public holiday

Undergraduate students in education-related disciplines and PGDE students of all majors
