Menstrual Equity Education Toolkit and School Partnership Support
Background of Co-organiser
Free Periods Hong Kong (FPHK) is a Hong Kong NGO focused on menstrual equity through education, stigma reduction, and practical support. We work with schools and community partners to improve menstrual health literacy, promote dignity and choice, and create more supportive environments for students.
Objectives
- Develop a reusable, evidence-informed menstrual equity education toolkit suitable for HK school settings.
- Produce a reusable lesson package (lesson plans + slides + student worksheets + simple assessment) that Free Periods HK / happeriod can use for school partnerships, teacher support and future workshops.
Project Details
Students will work in two main streams (can be assigned by strengths/interest):
Stream A — Education Toolkit Development
- Review existing FPHK/Happeriod education materials (if any) + identify gaps.
- Design or refine:
- Workshop slides (bilingual if possible)
- Facilitator script/notes
- Student activities/worksheets
- Guidance on handling sensitive questions and inclusive language
- Produce a “ready-to-run” package + versioning/file naming for handover.
Stream B — Research / Evaluation / School Outreach Support
- Conduct light research (desk research + optional stakeholder chats) on HK school needs and best practices.
- Draft a basic evaluation framework:
- simple learning outcomes
- pre/post questions
- reflection prompts
- data handling notes (confidentiality)
- Create school outreach pack:
- one-page project overview
- email templates
- FAQ for teachers/schools
- simple intake form questions (what we need to run a session)
Deliverables by end of EL block
- Final toolkit folder (slides + notes + worksheets)
- 1–2 page evaluation proposal + sample survey items
- School outreach pack (one-pager, FAQ, templates)
- Short final report + handover checklist
Project timeline
- Week 1: onboarding, review materials, align scope and target audience
- Week 2: draft toolkit structure + outreach pack outline; initial research
- Week 3: develop full draft materials; internal feedback loop
- Week 4: revise; pilot/rehearsal (if feasible); finalise evaluation items
- Week 5: polish deliverables; documentation + handover; final presentation
Date
- October 12 to November 17, 2026
- Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm
- Special working hours:
- Occasional evening/weekend events only if needed (rare) and with prior agreement.
Location
- Primary: Fanling
- If in-person meetings/pilots occur: meeting location in Fanling
- Approx. frequency of other locations: occasional (0–2 times/week depending on pilot/partner availability).
Eligibility
PGDE (full-time) students with interest in Health Education, Social Sciences, Guidance/Well-being, Inclusive Education, Curriculum Design (open to all majors).
Application Deadline and Procedure
11:59pm, September 2, 2026
- Complete the application form at HKU Moodle (Part 1) AND
- Upload the following documents to the respective project folder at HKU Moodle (Part 2) (Please combine all documents into one Word/PDF file)
- A short paragraph (around 200 words) explaining why you are interested in menstrual equity / school well-being work
- Your updated CV, with sharing of any relevant experience (teaching practice, youth work, workshop facilitation, curriculum design, research)
- Language ability (English / Cantonese / Putonghua) and comfort with bilingual writing.
- Shortlisted students may be invited to attend an interview arranged by FPHK (details to be confirmed).
Remarks
- Students will be expected to work professionally with sensitive topics (confidentiality, respectful language).
- Strong emphasis on handover-ready deliverables (clear structure, version control, and documentation).
- FPHK will provide a mentor and conduct at least one formal training, one individual feedback meeting, plus weekly check-ins.
