Internship Programme at Hong Kong Wetland Park (New)
Background of Community Partner
The Hong Kong Wetland Park (HKWP), which is under the management of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, is a world-class nature conservation, education and eco-tourism facility.
HKWP has also established itself as a renowned wetland education centre, fulfilling the Communication, Capacity Building, Education, Participation and Awareness programme under the Convention on Wetlands (commonly known as the Ramsar Convention).
HKWP comprises a 60 ha Wetland Reserve and a 10,000 m2 Visitor Centre, providing a safe and accessible environment for students and the public to appreciate the inherent values of wetlands. Opened in 2006, it has received over 8.6 million visitors from local and overseas.
Project Objectives
As a nature classroom, HKWP seeks to meet and enrich school curricula by connecting, inspiring and educating students with a view to fostering their awareness of and support for nature conservation and sustainable development.
This project aims to:
- Deepen interns’ understanding of the importance of wetlands, and the diversity of wetland habitats and wildlife;
- Equip interns with practical skills in nature education; and
- Enhance wetland learning experiences for junior secondary school students.
Work Details
Interns will be assigned to:
- Shadow education programmes at HKWP;
- Assist in guided tours and workshops for visitors of HKWP; and
- Design a wetland education programme to be conducted at HKWP for junior secondary school students.
For the wetland education programme, interns will be required to:
- Apply their learning to design the programme, including developing teaching plans and materials, under the supervision of HKWP’s staff;
- Conduct a trial run under the supervision of HKWP’s staff; and
- Deliver the programme to their students by the end of this project.
Date
A total of 12-15 days between late June and mid-October 2026 on-site at HKWP, with the following requirements:
- Training: 2 days in late June 2026 (exact dates to be confirmed).
- Shadowing and service: 6 days between July and mid-August 2026, mainly on weekends and public holidays.
- Programme design: 3-6 days for consultation with HKWP’s staff and trial run, mainly on weekdays.
- Programme implementation: 1 day for delivering the programme to their students by mid-October 2026.
Daily working hours: 9:30 am to 5:00 pm

Eligibility
PGDE (part-time) students preferably majoring in Science, Biology or Geography
