Background of Co-organiser
Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark, under the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, develops educational activities for all ages to raise awareness of our geological heritage and its connections to our natural, cultural, and intangible heritages. The signature Geopark Schools Programme for local schools offers a wide range of science popularization activities designed to inspire students' long-term interest in earth sciences, integrating ecology and culture, as well as the concept of sustainable development.
Objectives
- Foster students’ interest in earth science and local cultural heritage
- Enhance students' understanding of geopark SDG concepts
- Equip students with skills and knowledge through hands-on experiences in science education
Project Details
- Develop educational materials
- Assist in Geopark education activities, such as talks and field trips
- Provide guided tours for students and the public
Date
- 13 October - 18 November 2025
Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:45pm
Special working hours:
Students may be required to work on weekends.
Location
- 6/F, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices, Kowloon
- Work will involve ~3 day in office and ~2 days per week at schools or geosites.
Eligibility
- PGDE (full-time) students majoring in Geography
- Passionate about education and outdoor work
- Preferably with a First Aid Certificate
