EmpowerU’s mission is to provide high-quality education to those on the margins, so they can use their voice to create a better future.

EmpowerU combines technology, community and award-winning educators to provide a unique impact-based programme that empowers ethnically marginalised youth and migrant workers.

 

Objectives

 

  • Design and develop innovative, culturally responsive curricula for EmpowerU education programmes, specifically tailored to empower migrant domestic workers and ethnically diverse youth in Hong Kong
  • Enhance the effectiveness of our impact measurement by applying advanced survey design and data analysis techniques, enabling evidence-based evaluation of educational outcomes and programme success
  • Deepen your expertise in trauma-informed and student-centered pedagogical approaches, fostering inclusive learning environments that prioritise the well-being and agency of learners

 

Project Details

 

  • Students interested in hands-on teachingwill collaborate closely with our education team to design engaging learning activities and assist community instructors in delivering impactful courses for migrant domestic workers and ethnically diverse youth. This provides valuable practical experience in diverse, real-world educational settings.
  • Students passionate about curriculum development will contribute to the creation of innovative courses grounded in our trauma-informed and student-centered educational philosophies. This opportunity allows for the application of cutting-edge pedagogical theories to develop meaningful, inclusive learning experiences.

 

Date

 

  • 13 October - 18 November 2025
  • Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm
  • Special working hours:
    • Occasionally during Sundays 9am to 5pm or for short periods on Saturdays. Any number of hours worked on weekends can be claimed as time-off during weekdays.

 

Location

 

  • Office: Room 10, 2/F, Block A, Kam Ling Court, 532-538 Queen’s Road West, Shek Tong Tsui, Hong Kong
  • Project locations may differ depending on organisational needs

 

Eligibility

 

  • PGDE (full-time) students of all majors
  • with Sexual Conviction Record Check
  • Students should be open to and interested in multicultural environments and communications

    1. A personal statement (of not more than 200 words) explaining why you would like to join this EL project
    2. Your updated CV
  • Shortlisted students may be invited to attend an interview arranged by EmpowerU (details to be confirmed).
