Experiential Learning
EL Opportunity in Beijing
Step into Beijing this summer not just as a tourist, but as a co‑designer of a powerful learning journey.

Details
The Beijing Experiential Learning Study Tour (June 28 – July 2, 2026) is a five‑day, school–university partnership between HKU and a local secondary school that brings together iconic sites (Forbidden City, Great Wall at Mutianyu, Temple of Heaven, hutongs, 798 Art District, Olympic Park, Summer Palace) with structured activities in reflection, journaling, and AI‑supported learning. As a student facilitator, you will work alongside teachers to guide secondary students—many of them NCS learners—through daily reflection circles, experiential tasks (e.g. symbolism scavenger hunts, travel vlogs, art critiques, Tai Chi and hutong home visits), and an AI‑powered Experiential Learning Journal that you will help co‑develop.
What will you do?
This role is ideal for students from the Faculty of Education and other faculties who are interested in teaching, intercultural communication, learning design, or ethical AI in education. You will:
- Take part in three preparatory workshops (Apr–Jun) with school staff and students.
- Facilitate small‑group reflection and journaling during the tour, helping students connect Beijing’s history, culture and urban change with their own lives and school learning.
- Contribute to piloting the AI‑based reflection tool as a meaningful support for values education and experiential learning.
