Background of Community Partner

 

Africa Center Hong Kong is a platform and creative hub that fosters value-creating interactions between African and non-African communities in Asia. Our products and services focus on bridging cultural differences and therefore fostering relations and cultural understandings between communities. We are a social enterprise that understands the need for community representations and diverse experiences thus trying to fulfil those needs through great products and services for our clients with a broader long-term view and a firm emphasis on client satisfaction. We are driven by our social impact and influential practices of fostering conversations through innovation and entrepreneurship.

 

Objectives

 

  • To actively participate in our educational and cultural programs, as well as proactively work with other colleagues from diverse background within our organisation
  • To contribute to and gain insight from high-impact initiatives across Africa Center Hong Kong
  • To expand your perspectives and grow both professionally and intellectually

 

Project Details

 

  • Plan and execute the educational activity for the Afro Multi-Activity Summer Camp 2024
  • Create contents for our school programs
  • Facilitate/ assist in facilitating the workshop for schools

Date

 

  • Program period: mid-June to late-August 2024 (exact date to be confirmed)
  • Approximately 12-15 full days including training and shadowing
  • Working days are five days per week, usually from 10-6pm.
  • Out of the five days, there has to be one day from the weekend.
  • Due to the nature of the business, times are subject to change and interns must be flexible.
  • Of course in the event that there is overtime, they will be compensated by getting time off upon request in advance.

Eligibility

 

PGDE (part-time) students of all majors who are:

 

  • passionate about cultural exchange, education and youth empowerment;
  • motivated to learn, self-driven and open-minded; and
  • have keen interest in the African and Afro diaspora history and culture.

Application

 

Interested students please submit your application with your cover letter and CV through the HKU online application platform no later than 29 February 2024.

 

If your application meets Africa Center Hong Kong's requirements, you will be selected for an interview with Africa Center Hong Kong.  Details regarding the interview will be provided at a later time.
