Chinese Curriculum Development & NCS Primary Chinese Support Experiential Learning Project (WE Project) (NEW)

Background of Co-organiser

m-Chinese Solutions Limited (abbreviated as: mLang®; registered social enterprise) was founded in 2017 by Professor Lok Ka Yee Elizabeth, former Assistant Dean (Knowledge Exchange) of the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong, and Professor Ki Wing Wah, Emeritus Associate Professor. The Team of mLang® aims to revolutionise language education through technology by developing "mLang® Scaffolding Learning System", which integrates various curricula and teaching methodologies, enabling both Chinese-speaking and non-Chinese-speaking students to learn Chinese and English in a joyful and effective manner.

In 2023, mLang® team utilised Generative AI technology to develop the mAI Mind® Chinese Writing Self-learning and Assessment System. The team also provides professional NCS support, curriculum and teaching material design, after-school enrichment programmes, and other related services.

Objectives

Develop tailor-made CSL teaching materials for Primary 1 to 3 NCS students matching mainstream curriculum.
Support full implementation of all 32 scheduled after-school Chinese lessons at four partner campuses.
Conduct pre-test & post-test assessments, compile students’ digital learning portfolios via mLang platform.
Assist preparation & on-site coordination for teacher seminars, tutor training workshops and parent sharing sessions.
Support organisation of annual Chinese achievement award ceremony for participating NCS children.

Project Details

Draft graded lesson plans, worksheets and supplementary teaching resources for P1-P3 CSL lessons.
On-site class assistance during 6 after-school Chinese classes across four schools.
Administer pre-project and post-project assessments, input marks and organise evaluation data.
Operate mLang learning platform, maintain pupils’ individual electronic learning records.
Assist preparation, logistics and documentation for teacher seminars, tutor training & parent sharing.
Help arrange and run year-end Chinese award activity.

Date

October 12 to November 17, 2026
Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm
Special working hours:
- Saturday morning attendance is required when necessary; compensatory leave will be arranged in accordance with HKU EL guidelines for weekend duties.
- Occasional after-school hours for class support as needed.
- Flexible work-from-home arrangement available: Curriculum design, teaching material development and data compilation tasks can be completed remotely upon supervisor approval.
Project timeline :
- Week 1: Project induction, DELM & mLang system training, school venue allocation
- Week 2–5: Regular lesson preparation, in-school classroom support, assessment sorting, seminar & parent-event preparation, mandatory tripartite review meeting
- Final week: Individual feedback, compile EL period work report

Location

Base office: mLang office or UMAH Tuen Mun office
Remote work allowed for non-on-site tasks
Service venues (on-site attendance required):
- Yan Oi Tong Madam Lau Wong Fat Primary School (Tuen Mun)
- YLPMS Alumni Association Tang Ying Yip Primary School (Tin Shui Wai)
- Yuen Long Town Hall (Yuen Long)
- New Home Association Centre (Jordan)
- UMAH Premises (Tuen Mun, in-house Chinese class venue)
- Interns make regular rotation among above on-site locations.

Eligibility

PGDE (full-time) students, preferably majoring in Primary Education, Chinese Education or Chinese as Second Language (CSL) related.
Candidates with prior experience in teaching NCS students or developing Chinese teaching adn digital learning materials will be prioritised.
All selected interns are required to provide SCRC (Sexual Conviction Record Check) certificate before commencement.

Shortlisted students may be invited to attend an interview arranged by m-Chinese Solutions Limited (details to be confirmed).

Remarks

This is a fully funded evidence-based project with proven track record in narrowing NCS Chinese learning gaps. Interns will receive systematic training on DELM pedagogy and mLang AI teaching platform.
Senior CSL tutors will provide on-site supervision and one-on-one guidance throughout the placement.
Formal internship certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the programme.
All interns must submit a valid Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) certificate before the first day of placement.
Candidates with prior NCS teaching experience or teaching material development experience are strongly preferred.
