Abstract:
The presentation will be delivered by Professor Kevin W. H. Tai, the author of the book "Translanguaging in Classroom Discourse" and Assistant Professor of Language and Literacy Education at HKU. The discussant will be Professor Zhongfeng Tian, Associate Professor of Bilingual Education at Rutgers University–Newark.

During the event, Professor Tai will demonstrate how the book offers evidence-based, research-informed applications of translanguaging pedagogies across diverse multilingual classroom contexts. By integrating theoretical insights with concrete examples, the book helps educators implement translanguaging approaches that challenge monolingual norms in educational institutions. It also introduces new theoretical concepts derived from translanguaging and critically examines methodological frameworks for researching translanguaging in classroom settings.
