Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Scheme (FTSS)
Starting from the 2025-26 academic year, the Government is introducing the Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies (FTSS). The scheme is designed to support local students in pursuing further studies in areas of strategic priority for Hong Kong’s long-term development. MSc(TDLL) is one of the eligible programmes. Details for 2026-27 has not yet annoucned. Scholarship for Teachers (Pursuit of Master's Degree Programme)
The Education Bureau (EDB) has launched a scheme called the Scholarship for Teachers (Pursuit of Master's Degree Programmes). The Scholarship for Teachers aims to celebrate achievements of high-performing teachers and to encourage teachers’ pursuit of higher qualifications as well as to enhance their professionalism. MSc(TDLL) is a recognized programme under the area Learning, Technology and Pedagogy of this Scholarship. Details for 2026-27 has not yet announced. Admissions Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the programme, a candidate shall satisfy both the University Admission Requirements and the Programme Specific Requirements as listed below:
All candidates shall:
1. comply with the General Regulations and the Regulations for Taught Postgraduate Curricula;
2. hold a Bachelor’s degree of this University or a qualification of equivalent standard from this University or another comparable institution accepted for this purpose.
In addition,
3. a candidate who is seeking admission on the basis of a qualification from a university or comparable institution outside Hong Kong of which the language of teaching and/or examination is not English, shall satisfy the University English language requirements applicable to higher degrees as prescribed under General Regulation G2(b) having:
(i) a score of 80 or above in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)#; or
(ii) a minimum overall band of 6 with no sub-test lower than 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)#; or
(iii) grade C or above in the Overseas General Certificate of Education, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education, or the Cambridge Test of Proficiency in English Language.
(iv) All candidates shall satisfy the examiners in a qualifying examination, if required.
#TOEFL Home Edition or IELTS Online is not accepted. IELTS and TOEFL tests must be taken within two years prior to September 1 of each admission year. HKU TOETL code is 9671.
Notes for non-local students
The processing of Entry for Study visa application can take up to 8-10 weeks upon receipt of a complete set of application documents. The actual processing time could be longer for individual cases, especially if your set of documents is incomplete. You are advised to apply for the visa as soon as possible after accepting an offer of admission to study in HKU.
For the Chinese Mainland applicants, you should reserve additional 2 weeks to apply for an Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao (EEP) (港澳通行證) and the relevant exit endorsement (逗留D簽).
Application
After submission of an online application, you are required to upload the supporting documents via the online application systemby the application deadline or within one month after submission of the online application, whichever is earlier. Posting of supporting documents is NOT required at the application stage. Please refer to the "Instructions for Submitting Supporting Documents" for details. Should an applicant be considered for admission, he/she will receive an email notification from the Programme Office to submit the required documents. Please note that our request to submit documents does not necessarily mean that you will receive an offer of admission
