Research Postgraduate Students
The Faculty of Education has committed itself to the following 'mission' in relation to its research training activities and programmes:
- To engage in innovative, high-impact and leading-edge research within and across the disciplines of education and speech & hearing sciences;
- To foster in our graduates an international outlook and the capacity to be global knowledge workers;
- To produce graduates of distinction committed to lifelong learning, ethical practice and professionalism, capable of being responsive leaders and communicators in the fields of education and speech & hearing sciences.
Our research postgraduate programmes, the Master of Philosophy (MPhil), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Education (EdD) are all highly important to the achievement of this mission. We take seriously the importance of training the next generation of researchers and we welcome you as part of that next generation. As you embark on your research journey we hope that your will be challenged to engage in leading-edge, high impact and innovative research. We will encourage you to take an international perspective on your research and see yourselves as part of a global community of scholars. We also value the professional contribution that your research will make within your professional community.
We are proud that many of our 'graduates of distinction' from the MPhil, PhD and EdD programmes play major roles at different levels in the education sector and related fields, both locally and internationally. We anticipate that you also will make a significant contribution. We know that our alumni are 'committed to lifelong learning, ethical practice and professionalism and are capable of being responsive leaders and communicators'. We look forward to supporting your work, so that you too can share in these achievements and contribute to the realisation of the Faculty's mission.
