Experiential Learning

BBED6807 Slasher Experiential Learning – An Alternative Way to Life Planning Education (New)

Project Details

Slasher – a trendy term for introducing one’s occupations. You can be a student-teacher/YouTuber/photographer/coffee-artist/cyclist/... at the same time. The symbol “ / ” (slash) not only allows ones to have infinite career opportunities and thus unleashes vital potentials, but also reminds educators (in particular the prospective career masters) about the abundance and multiple intelligences of their future students.

This course offers students with:

  • authentic work opportunities to trial their ‘slash-dream-jobs’, for example an education student may wish to trail work as a veterinary assistant, which would be supported by a community partner with expertise in youth's career and life development;
  • guidance by both mentors from the chosen professions and our faculty member through apprenticeship and guided reflection exercises, and
  • chances to showcase at partnership schools about their professional growth and run alternative Life Planning Education programme(s) – e.g. career fairs / workshops – for students in a school.

Students’ performance in the course will be evaluated through a variety of means including reports from the mentors, regular online reflections, and a multi-media presentation at the end of the project.
