No. 7 in the world - QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017
We are glad to share with you that we have retained our ranking among the top Education faculties worldwide.
In the most recent QS subject rankings, the Faculty of Education at HKU has been ranked number 7 among Schools of Education around the world. The six universities above HKU for Education in this year’s exercise are: 1) University College London, 2) Harvard University, 3) Stanford University, 4) The University of Cambridge, 5) The University of Melbourne, and 6) the University of Oxford.
QS uses four criteria for its ranking system – Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per paper, and H-index, which is a way of measuring both the productivity and impact of the published work of a scholar. The relative weightings of these criteria vary slightly from discipline to discipline. For Education, the weightings are 50% Academic Reputation, 10% Employer Reputation, 20% Citations, and 20% H-index. We are pleased to see that our performance in two objective indicators, Citations and H-index, has improved compared with 2016: from 92.3 to 93.6 (Citations) and from 89.4 to 92.6 (H-index). Both indicators reflect aspects of research performance over the past 5 years and the improvements endorse colleagues’ sterling and continuous efforts over the past year.
