Programme Overview

The Faculty of Education offers an inter-disciplinary four-year honours degree focusing on the study and teaching of Liberal Studies, a broad-based core subject in the new senior secondary school curriculum

Professional Recognition

In a single integrated programme, BEd(LibSt) offers a qualification equivalent to a three-year honours degree plus a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Education.

Programme Visions

Liberal Studies is an exciting new area of the secondary school curriculum. This programme will enable graduates to:

  • Become effective teachers with expertise in Liberal Studies;
  • Have broad understanding across a number of knowledge discipline areas;
  • Learn about student development and develop teaching strategies that will engage modern students in effective learning;
  • Reflect critically upon their beliefs and learn to see the world through multiple perspectives;
  • Develop their personal strengths and build their professional foundation for their future career;
