What is Knowledge Exchange
The University Grants Committee (UGC) defines "knowledge transfer" as "the systems and processes by which knowledge, including technology, know-how, expertise and skills are transferred between higher education institutions and society, leading to innovative, profitable or economic or social improvements."
The University of Hong Kong calls such activities "knowledge exchange" (KE) and defines it as "engaging, for mutual benefit, with business, government or the public to generate, acquire, apply and make accessible the knowledge needed to enhance material, human, social, cultural and environmental well-being. It not only includes technology transfer but also encompasses all disciplines, including the arts and humanities and the social sciences, and is a two-way process." The Faculty of Education has been embarking on such activities over the years with local and overseas policy makers, government bureau representatives, school principals, school teachers, speech & hearing sciences and information management professionals, parents and other members of the public.
We welcome two-way communications and sharing with members of the community, including policy makers, government officials, practitioners in the field of education as well as members of the public.
